Elise feels left out

Elise was NOT pleased at all about being left out of dance class. She even tried pulling off her shoes when the big kids changed into their dance shoes in an effort to get to attend.

Gone is the sweet little baby who sat quietly and felt sorry for herself when being left out of art class. Elise is now a full-fledged toddler terror. When she realized that she really was not going to get to go into dance, no matter how much she tried, she actually hurled her shoe across the waiting room. I was not pleased, needless to say. Once she calmed down and apologized, we took a walk around the neighborhood, and when she had been being sweet for a while we stopped for a treat.

I feel bad for her being excluded when she wants so badly to do everything the big kids do, but at the same time I can’t allow that sort of behavior at all. It’s a tough line to walk with her.

The big kids knew exactly why Elise was so upset, and (unprompted by me!) they decided to show her what they had learned when we got home. She was thrilled to do “brush brush” about a million times! Though she really wanted a pair of ballet slippers and tap-tap shoes. But for what they cost, she is just going to have to pretend!
